About Dr.Costa

I'm Romulo Pimenta Costa, the CEO and Head Physiotherapist at Dr. Costa Clinic, and my journey begins back in 2006, when I was admitted as a new student to the Health Sciences Center at the Northern Paraná State University in Brazil. At just 17 years old, it was not only an early decision for the rest of my professional life, but also the most assertive one. I could never imagine myself in any other career.

Influenced by the physiotherapists who once treated me during my years as a professional athlete, I came to appreciate the sublime science behind helping people achieve extraordinary athletic performance. It seemed like a natural path to follow after my early retirement from sports due to a severe muscle injury that same year.

In 2009, after graduating, I joined the Military Forces as a Firefighter in the State Fire Department. During the year-long Fire Academy, I learned skills ranging from stabilising critical trauma victims to extinguishing fires in complex buildings. This chapter lasted about a year and a half, until I was promoted to the Health Team as an assistant Physiotherapist in the Intensive Care Unit of the Military Hospital in Curitiba, where I served for five more years.

In late 2017, I launched Postura Clinic in Umuarama, in the northwest of the state. With a focus on postural disorders and pain management, the clinic quickly became a success and expanded to two additional cities, bringing together professionals such as orthopaedic doctors, nutritionists, nurses, and aesthetic pharmacists. Frequently featured on TV programmes and clinical journals, I have always believed in empowering my patients through scientific education, helping them understand basic physiopathology and human physiology so they can make informed decisions about their own treatment. I am an advocate of patient education, and this has been my core, non-negotiable value throughout my 17 years as a pain specialist.

Since 2022, after leading Postura Clinic for five years, I expanded not only my professional portfolio—specialising in areas such as cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, posturology, pain management, extracorporeal shockwave therapy, laser therapy, dry needling, ozone-oxygen therapy, and more—but also my horizons by moving to the UK. Over the last year, I have continued to treat pain patients across two locations: London and Glasgow.

As a guiding principle, I rely on scientific evidence to deliver meaningful health benefits to real people who seek a highly trusted practice—one capable of offering solutions that the public health system often cannot. My commitment to people has remained the same throughout all the years preceding my work in England and Scotland.

Thank you for being part of a story that is still being written.
